Roger G. Boucher, 76, of 444 Park St., Gardner, died Wednesday, August 3rd in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a short struggle with cancer.

Born in Gardner on June 6, 1929, he was the son of Romuald and Anita (Houde) Boucher.

He was an electrician employed by Gardner Housing Authority of Gardner for 11 years until retiring in 1993. He previously worked at Heywood-Wakefield Co. and Modern Contract Co., both of Gardner.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

Roger enjoyed golf, playing cards, deep sea fishing and especially loved his family.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and served from 1946 to 1948.

His wife of 53 years, Shirley M. (Erickson) Boucher, died in 2002.

He leaves a son, John A. Boucher and wife Joyce of Gardner; 2 daughters, Andrea J. Mitchell and husband Harold of Brattleboro, VT; Bonnie J. St. John and significant other Patrick Keaveny of Templeton; 3 sisters, Theresa A. LaFortune and husband Andre of Gardner, Sr. Rachel Boucher, of the Sisters of the Presentation, Augusta, ME, Gloria Boucher of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, Elizabeth Allard, Emily Thompson, Jennifer Jaillet and Jonathan Boucher; 1 sister-in-law, Dorothy (Sawin) Boucher of East Templeton; 1 aunt, Cecile Houde of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Boucher.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday, August 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gardner Visiting Nursing Assn., Hospice Program, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
