Robert D"Rob" Wihtelin

March 25, 1964 — June 26, 2015

Robert D. "Rob" Wihtelin, 51, of Gardner died peacefully Friday, June 26, 2015 in his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Fitchburg on March 25, 1964, the son of Ronald O. and the late Janet T. (Membrino) Wihtelin.
Rob graduated from St. Bernard's High School with the Class of 1982. He began his career in the grocery industry at the age of 16 with his employment with Victory Supermarkets of Leominster. During his years with Victory he graduated from "bag boy" to Management. After Hannaford acquired Victory, Rob continued to progress within the company leading several stores and teams across several districts to great success. At the time of his death he was the Store Manager for the Hannaford Supermarket in Lowell, a position he truly loved. Rob had an incredible impact on all he met. He influenced, mentored and earned the respect of many... with a constant smile on his face.
Rob loved life. He enjoyed golfing, going to the beach and was an avid sports fan. He devoted many years and took great pride in coaching his son's baseball and basketball teams, and his daughter's soccer and basketball teams. His greatest happiness came from spending time with those he loved, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his father, Ronald O. Wihtelin of Fitchburg, he leaves his son, Christopher R. Wihtelin of Gardner; daughter, Leah B. Wihtelin of Gardner; brother, Ronald L. Wihtelin of Fitchburg; his best friend and significant other, Amy Bacca and her children Lily and Cooper, whom he lived with and loved dearly; one aunt, Betty Membrino of Fitchburg; and several cousins including a special cousin, Lou Membrino and his wife Sue of Newton. He also leaves his former wife, Debra Leone of Gardner.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 1st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery of Gardner.
