Robert G. Stone, 79, of 225 Gardner Rd., Hubbardston, where he has lived since 1962, died Thursday, May 27th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on November 5, 1924, he was the son of Walter and Hilda (Friberg)Stone.
He was an inspector and assembler last employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. for several years, retiring in 1980. He was previously employed by the former Grants Dept. Store of Gardner and was also a part-time salesman for Knapp Shoe Co.
He was a life-time member of Otter River Sportsman Club. He was a furniture maker and enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and pitch.
He leaves his wife with whom he would have celebrated their 55th anniversary on June 11th, Beverly M. (Morse) Stone of Hubbardston; 1 son, Jeffrey R. Stone of Hubbardston; 1 daughter, Joni L. Parent and her husband Ronald of East Templeton; 2 grandchildren, Chad Stinnett of E. Templeton and Clint Stinnett of Gardner; 1 great-granddaughter, Amelie Elizabeth Stinnett of Winchendon; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Stanley, Harold, Everett Stone and 1 sister, Mabel Kulysh.
A calling hour in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner will be Tuesday morning, June 1st, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a Graveside Service at 10:30 a.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville. Rev. Dr. Gary Heikkila will officiate.
