Robert J. "Bobby" Richard, 74, of West Side House of Worcester, died Thursday, July 1, 2015 in St. Vincent Hospital of Worcester, following a long battle with physical and mental issues.
Born in Gardner on September 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Auguste and Alminie (Gallant) Richard.
Robert graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1957. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served for three years. He later attended Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner.
He was a member of the Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.
Robert enjoyed reading History and Science books, and listening to classical music. In his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis and ice skating.
He leaves one brother, Alfred A. Richard of Cupertino, CA; three sisters, Eva M. Gemborys and her husband Eugene of Gardner, Alfreda M. Bergeron and her husband Camille of Gardner and Cecilia M. Richard of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was predeceased by his sister, M.M. Alma Richard.
Funeral Services with full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, July 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, July 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440 or to the Annunciation Parish with checks made payable to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440.
