Robert "Bob" J. Morse, 89, of 29 Main Street, Westminster, died Wednesday, May 19th in HealthAlliance Hospital - Leominster Campus surrounded by his family, following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on August 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Carl and Lucy (Lashua) Morse.
Bob was a woodworker employed by Nichols and Stone Company of Gardner for six years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Company for 41 years.
Bob was a member of the American Legion, Eugene M. Connor Post 193 of Winchendon.
He was a fan of Nascar Racing and the television show "Law and Order". He enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. Bob loved to spend time with his family. He also loved his dog "Teddy".
Bob was a United States Army World War II Veteran and received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Service Arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star, GO #23 HQ USSAFFE 1945, the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal.
Bob was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Barbara J. (Hill) Morse who died in August of 2000.
He leaves two sons, Ronald L. Morse and his wife Sharon of Myrtle Beach, SC and James R. Morse of Fitzwilliam, NH; one daughter, Janice B. Baker and her husband Donald of Westminster; four grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Hanson, Kimberly Lynn Morse, Becky Lynn Marckenvich and Tyler F. Morse; one great-grandchild, Connor Hanson; numerous step-children; several niece and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Ralph Morse, Charles Morse, Theodore Morse and Chester Morse and by three sisters, Bertha Morse, Eva Ballentine and Dorothy Sachagian.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21st at 5:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in New Cemetery, Ashburnham at a later date.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, May 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
