Robert R. Hamel

Robert R. Hamel, 81, of Winchendon, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, in Baystate Medical Center, Springfield.

Born in Gardner on June 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Robert and Denise Alexandra (Lapierre) Hamel. Raised and educated in Gardner, he attended Gardner Public Schools and was a graduate of Gardner High School with the Class of 1959. Bob enlisted in the United States Navy in 1960, where he served as an Aircraft Mechanic.

He was employed for many years at Simplex-Grinnell, until his retirement in 2002. He leaves his grandchildren, Korrie L. Dempsey of Everett and Warren C. Dempsey of Winchendon, as well as a niece, Linda D. Carcieri of Athol.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara A. Hamel, his daughter Karen E. Dempsey, as well as his sister, Louise E. (Hamel) Bourgeois.

Bob enjoyed woodworking, as well as watching football and NASCAR. He loved to work in his garden, tending to his vegetables and flowers in his younger years.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Friday, May 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
