Robert B. "Bobby" Culver, 81, of 129 Oak Street, Gardner, formerly of 151 Snake Pond Road, Gardner, died Wednesday, March 11th in his residence following a brief illness.
Robert was born in Waltham, on September 5, 1927, the son of the late Roy and Marianne (Bowers) Culver.
He was a machine operator employed by C & W Fabricators of Gardner for 22 years, retiring in 1991.
Robert attended Worcester Trade School, Worcester. He attained his G.E.D. in the Army in 1963.
Robert was a United States Korean War and Vietnam War Army Veteran. He served his Country for 21 years, with assignments in Kentucky, California, Alaska, Germany, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
He was a member of Mission Street Congregational Church, Gardner. He was a member of the American Legion Post 172 of Orange, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Robert enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working with leather. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and ceramics. Roberts loved to travel with his wife Sylvia, especially to the ocean in Maine.
He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia (McPherson) Culver, who died in 2005.
He leaves three daughters, Sylvia "Linda" M. LeBlanc and her husband Albert of Gardner, Patricia A. Parker of Gardner, and Penny L. LeBlanc and her husband Alfred of Gardner; one sister, Helen Williams of Royalston; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur Culver and Chester Culver.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16th at 11:30 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallan Street, Winchendon. Rev. Dr. Gary Heikkila will officiate. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Calling hours in the Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner will be Sunday, March 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
