Robert E. "Bob" Cormier, 76, of 30 Norman Street, Gardner, died peacefully Monday, March 30th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville surrounded by his family.

Born in Gardner on March 10, 1933,he was the son of the late Henry and Eva (Cormier) Cormier.

Bob was the owner/manager of the Lafayette Lounge in Gardner for 26 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield of Gardner as a woodworker, and previously at Gardner State Hospital as an assistant cook.

Bob was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was a member of the Napoleon Club of Gardner and the V.F.W. Post 905 of Gardner.

Bob was a United States Korean War Army Veteran, and received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Merit Unit Commendation.

Bob enjoyed golfing, playing cribbage and skiing. He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching television, especially the Amazing Race. Bob loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Dorothy M. (Erickson) Cormier of Gardner; two sons, Neil A. Cormier and his wife Kathleen of Canton, CT and Dean R. Cormier of Gardner; one daughter, Nicole C. LeBlanc and her husband Daniel of Templeton; one brother, Raymond Cormier and his wife Alyce of Hudson, NH; two sisters-in-law, Anna Cormier of Leominster and Cecile Cormier of Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Tyler and Mitchell Cormier, Daniella, Avery and Zack LeBlanc; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Emile, Earl, Henry and Frances Cormier.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.

Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, April 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
