Robert E."Bob" Berry

Robert E. Berry, 76, of Gardner, MA, formerly of Troy, NH, died Friday, January 23, 2015 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner, surrounded by his family, following a long illness.
He was born in Fitchburg on May 12, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Eliza (Yon) Berry.
Robert graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1957, and immediately joined the United States Air Force. After serving his country for three years, he attended Cornell Culinary School. In 1968 he opened his own restaurant, Strawberry Acres. He was later a chef at several different restaurants and institutions in the Northeast.
Robert was a member of the Congregational Church of Troy, NH, where he sang in the church choir and assisted with the organizing of church dinners. He also devoted a lot his time organizing and preparing dinners for Senior groups in the Troy, NH area.
He enjoyed playing Bingo, cards and spending time with his family. Robert loved sports, and was an avid New England sports fan.
Robert leaves his wife of 48 years, Joyce (Kenney) Berry of Gardner; one son, Robert Berry II and his wife Nichole of Troy, NH; one daughter, Holly Berry of Gardner; one brother, Joseph Berry and his wife Brenda of St. Augustine, FL; one sister, MaryJane Hartman of NV; three grandchildren, Mikayla , Elizabeth and Luke Berry; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sister, Josephine Robbins and Doris Boivin.
Funeral Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
