Robert "Bobby" C. Bennett, Jr., 56, of 168 Beech Street, Fitchburg, formerly of Ashby, died Wednesday, February 14th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Fitchburg on January 9, 1951, the son of Robert C. and Janet P. (Morin) Bennett, Sr.
Bobby graduated from Ashby High School, Ashby with the class of 1969. He also attended Boston University, and Mount Wachusett Community College.
Bobby was the last surviving employee of the original twelve members of the Boston Center for Independent Living. He enjoyed listening to books on tape, playing chess, and computers.
Besides his parents of Rindge, NH, he leaves three brothers; Larry G. Bennett and his wife Donna of Fitchburg, Gregory B. Bennett and his wife Judith of Saunderstown, R.I. and Russell J. Bennett and his wife Janice of Candia, N.H.; six sisters, Gail M. Messer and her husband Oscar of Townsend, Debra J. Kinney and her husband James of Derby Line, VT, Darlene P. Bergeron and her husband Brian of Fitchburg, Brenda L. Skrzypczak and her husband Dr. John Skrzypczak of Ashburnham, Kim G. Forsythe of Winchendon and Robin M. McRae and her husband Dennis of Ashby; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fitchburg Public Library, 610 Main Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
