Rita M. (Royer) Richards, 89, of 28 Banner Road, Gardner died peacefully Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in her residence.
Born in Berlin, New Hampshire on March 8, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Laura (Gallien) Royer.
Rita was a customer service representative employed by Dunkin Donuts of Auburn, prior to retiring in 1996. She was previously employed by various plastics companies in the Leominster and Fitchburg area for many years.
Rita's hobbies included reading, traveling, cooking, shopping and baseball. She loved to salt water fish and continued to do so until the age of 76. She most enjoyed spending time with her family.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Hugh J. Richards who died in February of 2006.
She leaves three daughters, Patricia A. Robinson and her husband James of Franklin, Barbara L. Denesowicz and her husband Thomas of Dudley and Judith M. Ellis and her companion Michael Prost of Gardner; four brothers, Wilfred Royer of Toms River, NJ, Raymond Royer of Fitchburg, Ernest Royer and his wife Anne of Gardner, Donald Royer and his wife Nora of East Liverpool, OH; one sister, Louise LeBlanc and her husband Leonard of Westminster; one sister-in-law, Cecile Royer of San Francisco, CA five grandchildren, James Gingras of Oxford, Jay Robinson of Hopkinton, Heather Huckins of Newton, Jennifer Brown of Franklin and Joshua Ellis of Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, Allison Huckins, Megan Huckins, Madeline Gingras, Zachary Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Hugh Robinson and Lily Brown; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Royer and Louis Royer and by one sister, Rena Robichaud.
Graveside Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
