Rita R. (Richard) Lacoss, 98, of Cambridge and formerly of 19 City Hall Avenue, Gardner, died peacefully at the end of long full life on Sunday, February 21st in the Neville Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Cambridge,
Born in Gardner on November 26, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Thaddee and Eugenie (Richard) Richard.
Prior to retiring, Rita was a stitcher employed by Bettez and LaRoche of Gardner. She was previously employed by Seibert Manufacturing Company of Gardner.
Rita was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Her hobbies included walking, playing cards and traveling with friends on short trips. Rita played and taught the piano and the organ. She thoroughly enjoyed her students, and inspired the love of piano to her grandchildren. Rita was a woman of great strength, both physical as well as emotional. She was a hard worker and expected the same of others.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Tobias R. Lacoss, who died in November of 1978.
She leaves one son, Richard T. Lacoss and his wife Cynthia K. Oldham of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Remi Oldham, of Boston, a student at Boston University, and Zelda Lacoss of Cambridge, a student at Smith College in North Hampton, MA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rita was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Donat Richard and by one sister, Christine Tennant.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Saturday, February 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
