Rita M Jean

Rita M. (Desmarais) Jean, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, December 18, 2015 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Gardner on June 11, 1933, the daughter of the late Frank and Mina (Courchene) Desmarais.
Rita was a telephone operator employed by New England Telephone and Telegraph of Gardner for ten years, retiring in 1960.
She was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
Rita enjoyed knitting, golfing, traveling and cooking. She was an avid card player who enjoyed playing cribbage, Hearts and Bingo. Rita loved the outdoors, and she treasured spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roland W. Jean, who died October 2, 2014.
Rita leaves two daughters, Kathleen M. Arsenault and her husband Gilles of Gardner and Karen J. Chandler and her husband Robert of Quechee, Vermont; five grandchildren, David Arsenault and his wife Tiffany of Phillipston, Jeremy Arsenault and his wife Danielle of Winchendon, Nicole Arsenault of Gardner, and Connor and Brent Chandler of Quechee, Vermont; six great-grandchildren, Trinity, Savanna, Haleigh and Kirstyn Arsenault and Nevaeh and Nyomi Soto; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Raymond Desmarais and by one sister, Georgette Desmarais.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, December 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
