Rita L Garneau

Rita L. (Jean) Garneau, 80, of 104 Church Street, Gardner died peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner surrounded by her family.
Rita was born in Gardner on April 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Victor J. and Delina M. (Houde) Jean.
She was a store clerk employed by the former Brooks Pharmacy of Gardner for 7 years, prior to retiring several years ago. She was previously employed by Gerroir's Variety Store of Gardner.
Rita was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.
She was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed bowling and gardening. Rita was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and enjoyed watching a variety of sports on television. Her happiest moments came from spending time with her grandchildren.
Rita leaves her husband of 60 years, Edward J. Garneau, of Gardner; two sons, Michael E. Garneau and his wife Judy of Manchester, NH and Francis N. Garneau and his wife Joan of Gardner; one daughter, Ruth A. Hirons and her husband Mark of Gardner; three brothers, Roland Jean and his wife Rita, Sylvio Jean and his wife Delia and Normand J. Jean and his wife Theresa, all of Gardner; one sister, Agnes Caron of Winchendon; five grandchildren, Derek, Melissa, Justin, Jared and Tarah; one great grandchild, Anastasia; one aunt, Cecile Houde; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Leopold Jean and Henry Jean; and by one sister, Priscilla Jean.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 21st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Tuesday, September 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
