Rita M. (Chagnon) Florence, 93, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville formerly of 66 A Elm Street, Baldwinville and 135 State Road, Otter River, died peacefully Saturday, August 1st in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.
Born in Gardner on July 26, 1916, she was the daughter of Edgar and Marguerite (Lamarche) Chagnon.
Rita was employed by Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner as a packer for 49 years, retiring in 1979.
Rita was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Baldwinville.
She was an avid walker and loved cats. Rita enjoyed attending Bible Study at Mission Street Church.
Rita was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth R. Florence, who died in January of 1989.
She leaves one brother, Lawrence A. Chagnon and his wife Mary of Winchendon; one sister, Estelle R. Wood and her husband Leonard N. of Baldwinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers, Gerard Chagnon, Edward Chagnon, Roger Chagnon and Edgar Chagnon and Ronald Chagnon; and by three sisters, Irene Tanguay, Rose Dymek and Lillian Clark.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, August 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
