Rita B. (LaFlamme) Charest, 86, of 59 Marquette St., Gardner died Tuesday, May 11th in Heywood Hospital following a short illness.

Born in Gardner on June 27, 1917, she was the daughter of Uldege and Exilda (Guenette) LaFlamme.

She was an upholsterer employed by the former Heywood-Wakefield Co. for 28 years, retiring in 1955.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and cooking. She was very proud of being an immaculate housekeeper.

Her husband of 62 years, Hector Charest, died in 2002.

She leaves a daughter, Kathy Rastley of Gardner; 1 sister, Helen D. LaFlamme of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Edmond J. LaFlamme and Hector L. LaFlamme.

Funeral services will be held Saturday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Church Organ Fund or Holy Rosary School, 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.
