Rino A. Jalbert, 80, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Saint-Basile, New Brunswick, Canada, on May 31, 1943, he was the son of the late Eddie and Anita (Martin) Jalbert. Rino was an upholster employed by Modern Contract for 40 years and by the LaRoche Brothers. He was also a window maker employed by Maki of Gardner until his death.
Rino was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club, West End Beagle Club, and the Deep-Sea Club, all of Gardner. Rino loved being at work, never officially retiring. He loved taking trips to his clubs, socializing, and playing cribbage and darts. Rino’s greatest joy was his family, treasuring their times together, especially his five grandchildren.
Rino is survived by his son, Paul Jalbert of Gardner; two daughters, Anne-Marie Bouchard and her husband Hermel of Gardner and Jacqueline Minns and her husband Matthew of Gardner; five grandchildren, Michael and Megan Minns, Christian, Elliott, and Jayden Jalbert; six brothers, Jacques Jalbert of Winchendon, Richard Jalbert of Gardner, Martin Jalbert of Gardner, Ronald Jalbert and his wife Gloria of Baldwinville, Fernand Jalbert of Gardner, and Bertrand Jalbert and his wife Martha of Gardner; three sisters, Lorraine Bosse of Gardner, Germain Clavet and her husband Roland of Wallingford, CT, and Pierette Jalbert of Phillipston; a sister-in-law, Blanche Jalbert of Maine; an uncle, Ronald Bouchard of Baldwinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Annette V. (Robichaud) Jalbert, who died September 16, 2023; and five brothers, Leonard, Armand, Norman, Barthy, and Herve Jalbert.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, October 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
