Richard A. "Roofer" Johnson, 56, of 47 Lake Street, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, September 3, 2015 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner, surrounded by his family, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on September 10, 1958, he was the son of Marlene (Blakley) Johnson-Champagne and the late Donald Johnson.
Richard graduated from Narragansett Regional High School of Baldwinville with the Class of 1976.
He was roofing contractor employed by Schill Contracting of Cincinnati, OH for many years, retiring recently.
Richard enjoyed fishing, was a huge fan of NASCAR and was proud to say he traveled to every state in the contiguous United States.
He was leaves his mother, Marlene (Blakley) Johnson-Champagne and her husband, Donald of Fitchburg; two brothers, Paul Johnson of Baldwinville and Brian Brentley of Athol; one sister, Karla LeBlanc and her husband Bryant of Gardner; three aunts, Connie Johnson of Westminster, Marie Meunier of Baldwinville and Marcia Stillings of Templeton; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Deb Johnson of Westminster and her dog Nigel who he was very close to.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 15th at 11:00 a.m. in Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner. Pastor Chris Brown of the First Baptist Church of Westminster will officiate.
There are no calling hours.
