Richard H. "Dick" Hanks, 75, of North Port, Florida, and formerly of Gardner, MA, died Friday, September 11, 2009 in Florida.
Dick was born in Winchendon on June 3, 1934, the son of the late Leon and Doris (Boisse) Hanks.
Prior to retiring from the Montachusett Area Regional Transit in Fitchburg, Dick had a long career as a truck driver for Goguen Transportation and Chicoine Construction.
Dick served in the United States Army National Guard.
He was an avid sports fan of both the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed bowling, cooking and going to Foxwoods Casino.
Dick was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Leblanc) Hanks, who died in 2005.
He will be sadly missed by his four sons, Chris Hanks and his wife Diane of Gardner, Kerry Hanks and his wife Susan of Winchendon, Richard Hanks and his wife Karen of Gardner and Troy Hanks and his wife Rhonda of Gardner; two brothers, Kenneth Hanks and Edward Hanks; two sisters, Janice Farnsworth and Nancy Clavette; seven grandchildren, Brandi, Bethanie, Noah, Kyle, Richie, Nathan and Alex; and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves many dear friends in Florida and his favorite dog, "Foxy Lady". He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Wayne Hanks.
A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00 a.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
