Richard J. Gallant, 90, of Gardner, died unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Born in Grande-Digue, New Brunswick, Canada, on April 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marguerite (Hebert) Gallant. After immigrating to the United States, he began a prosperous career working as a roofer and sider for LeBlanc & McCaie and Maki for several years until his retirement in 1973.

Richard was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus #396 and the Acadien Social Club, both of Gardner. Richard enjoyed being outdoors hunting and attending horse races. He also kept busy reading and collecting coins. Hockey was his passion keeping his Canadian heritage alive routing for the Montreal Canadians. But above all, Richard’s greatest love and treasure was his family, cherishing the memories shared and made throughout the years.

Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Noella M. (LeBlanc) Gallant of Gardner; four sons, Leo J. Gallant and his wife Brenda of Gardner, Ronald J. Gallant and his wife Sandra of Hubbardston, Steven J. Gallant of Winchendon, and Paul N. Gallant and his fiancé Lynn Mathieu of Gardner; two daughters, Bernice M. Clark and her husband Stephen of Barre and Janette M. Fontaine of Baldwinville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his four brothers, Albert, Leo, Henrie, and Yvon Gallant; and a sister, Rita Leger.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Academy, 99 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Richard J. Gallant.
