Richard D Desaulniers

Richard D. Desaulniers, 85, of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner.
Born in Winchendon on November 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Lucien E. and Alma E. (Moreau) Desaulniers.
Richard proudly served his country with the United States Coast Guard.
He worked in the manufacturing department of Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner as a plater for 35 years, retiring in 1995.
Richard was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Beagle Club of Gardner.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed dancing. Richard loved to travel, especially to New Brunswick, Canada.
Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Esther Desaulniers, who died in 1987.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Melina M. (Gallant) Desaulniers of Gardner; one daughter, Patricia Johnson of NH; three step-sons, Bernard J. Savoie of Newburyport, Andre J. Savoie and his wife Kim of Pittsburg, PA and Maurice C. Savoie of Ayer; five step-daughters, Gisele M. White and her husband Kenneth of Wappingers Falls, NY, Angela M. Cramm and her husband Paul of Gardner, Lisa M. King and her husband Eric of Wingdale, NY, Darlene Babineau and her husband Paul of Ashburnham and Kay Tarmaciewicz of Westminster; one brother, Maurice Desaulniers of Winchendon; twenty step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, David Desaulniers who died in 2015; and two sisters, Cecile Sylinski and Therese Guy.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery of Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held Friday, September 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
