Richard Chicoine, 76, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, October 14, 2023, in UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital- Leominster Campus, after an illness.

Born in Gardner on May 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth (Potter) Chicoine. Richie was a United States Army Vietnam War Veteran serving from March 29, 1967 to November 05, 1968 where he received a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and a Sharpshooter Medal. He was woodworker employed by Conant-Ball of Gardner for many years prior to his retirement.

Richard was a congregant of the Church of the Harvest of Fitchburg. He loved to play scratch tickets and work on jigsaw puzzles.

Richie is survived by his four sisters, Cecila Grincewicz of Gardner, Annie Boudreau and her husband Albert of Winchendon, Margaret Field of Gardner and June Cormier of Templeton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Clarence, Louis and Norman Chicoine.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Friday, October 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, 268 Central Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Richard Chicoine.
