Richard J. Babineau

Richard J. Babineau, 65, of Gardner, died peacefully Friday, October 5, 2023, in UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, after an illness.

Born in Rogersville, New Brunswick, Canada, on January 24, 1958, he was the son of the late Alcide and Alida M. (Cormier) Babineau.

Richard loved sports and all things about them. He was an avid fan of his Boston Red Sox and bowling. Richard loved to collect sports memorabilia, coins, cups, and trains, displaying his collections proudly. He enjoyed taking trips around town to the Paramount Café, Dunkin Donuts and Steve’s Barber Shop.

Richard is survived by his sister, Claudette Babineau of Templeton; his dear friends, Nana Nimoh, Lynn and Dave Yeiter; his friends at Steve’s Barber Shop; and several cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.

There are no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to report directly to the church on the day of the service.
