Ricci John Gelsomini

Ricci John "Papa" Gelsomini, 57, of 365 Mellen Road, Winchendon died peacefully Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in his residence surrounded by family, following a five year battle with multiple myeloma.
Ricci was born in Gardner on March 10, 1955, the son of the late Joseph L. and Nellie (Hajdukiewicz) Gelsomini.
After attending Gardner High School, Gardner, he joined the United States Navy and served from 1973 through 1979. In 1979 he became a Merchant Marine Sailor, and later worked for several businesses. He retired due to illness from Teco Energy in Tampa, FL where he was employed for 33 years as a Chief Engineer.
Ricci was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Gardner. He was also a member of the Westminster Gun Club.
He had a passion for building and flying model helicopters, snowmobiling motorcycle riding and target shooting. He had his private pilot's license, owned several planes and had traveled around the world. He most enjoyed spending time with his seven grandchildren who lit up his life, and he loved vacationing with his family.
Ricci leaves his wife of ten years, Patricia A. (Miller) Gelsomini of Winchendon; one stepson, Todd M. Constantine, Sr. of Gardner; two stepdaughters, Lynn C. McAvene and her husband Eric of Templeton and Shelley A. McCaie and her husband Tim of Templeton; two brothers, Larry Gelsomini and his wife Karen of Westminster and Michael Gelsomini and his wife Maryanne of Gardner; seven grandchildren, Madison and Carley McCaie, Emily, Katie and Todd Constantine, Jr. and Meghan and Brian McAvene; one aunt, Helen Miszewicz; one uncle, Frank Gelsomini and his wife Gloria; one niece, Kim Delaney of Weymouth; one nephew, Anthony Gelsomini and several cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Reverend Joseph Jurgelonis will officiate.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 20th from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
