Erie, PA - Rhea Marguerite (Bouffard) Dupre, loving 'Maman', 'Memere', 'Grandmere', 103, of Erie, PA and formerly of Gardner, died peacefully in the home of her son Saturday, June 24th following a brief illness.
Born in Turners Falls on September 3, 1902, she was the daughter of Napoleon L. and Mary Ann (Perrotte) Bouffard and moved to Gardner in her early childhood.
Mrs. Dupre was a bookkeeper at the former Florence Stove Co. of Gardner for several years and later at the former Colonial Hotel in downtown Gardner.
She was a graduate of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary School and a 1920 graduate of Gardner High School.
She was a life-long member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner and its Ladies of St. Anne Society.
Her husband of 61 years, Ernest W. Dupre died in 1991.
Mrs. Dupre leaves 1 son, Retired Colonel USAF Roger P. Dupre and wife Margaret (Tellers) Dupre of Erie, PA with whom she made her home for the last few years; 2 grandsons, Petty Office 1st Class, Michael C. Dupre, US Coast Guard, his wife Melissa and their 2 children, William Chase Fillpot and Madeline Dupre stationed in Mobile, AL; Lt. Commander Joseph E. Dupre, US Navy, his wife Kathleen and their 2 children, Andrew and Jacob stationed in Yorkshire, England (and presently deployed in Iraq); 1 granddaughter, Captain Rebecca A. Tubman, US Air Force, her husband Daniel and their 2 children, Nathan and Marissa stationed at Ft. Meade, MD. (Rebecca recently returned from a deployment in Iraq); 5 nieces and 1 nephew. Rhea is also survived by her 'adopted' Erie family who also lovingly referred to her as "Memere", Elizabeth and David Schaaf and Rosalie and Henry Tellers and their respective families. She was predeceased by 2 step-brothers, Joseph and Francis X. Bouffard and a step-sister, Dora Hartwell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Monday, July 3rd from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
