Rene V. Laliberte, 86, of 82 Oak Street, Gardner died peacefully Friday, January 14, 2011 in his daughter Theresa J. Salames home in Westminster surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Rene was born in Gardner on August 5, 1924, the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Fredette) Laliberte.
He was a molder employed by Nichols and Stone Company of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1999. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Co. of Gardner for 28 years.
Rene was a member of St. Martins Church in Otter River, and the Otter River Sportman's Club in Otter River.
He enjoyed going to the Otter River Sportman's Club and Mogehan Sun. He also enjoyed watching Mass on television. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Rene was predeceased by his wife Annette (Richards) Laliberte who died in 2004.
He leaves two sons, Louis R. Laliberte of Gardner and James P. Laliberte of Winchendon; three daughters, Bertha "Cookie" Bagdonas and her husband Charles of Gardner; Therese J. Salame and her husband George of Westminster and Betty A. Williamson of Merrimet, WI; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Laliberte of Gardner and a dear friend and sister-in-law, Louise Richards of Gardner; seven grandchildren, Wendy Laliberte, Julie Bagdonas, Jill Drury, Adam Salame, Samantha Eldardir, Brandi Cowen, Sean Livingston; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one son, Ronald V. Laliberte who died in 1961, one daughter, Renette P. Laliberte who died in 1978, and one granddaughter, Holly M. Salame who died in 1982 and by three brothers, Armand, Louis, and Edmond "Tiggy" Laliberte.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 21st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home are Friday, January 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The family has asked that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Gardner Visiting Nursing Association, Hospice Program,34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
