Rene O. Charette, 75, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, September 3, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family after a short illness.
Born in Leominster on September 9, 1946, he was the son of the late Emile O. and Irene (Donais) Charette. He graduated from Leominster Trade School with the Class of 1965. Rene was a true handyman and was able to fix just about anything. He was the Owner and Operator of Bud’s Handyman Service of Gardner for several years. He was previously employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westminster for over 20-years.
Rene enjoyed the outdoors where he enjoyed the tranquility of fishing and being in his garden. His greatest joy in life was his family, especially his grandchildren, always treasuring the special moments they had together.
Rene is survived by his wife of 47-years, Judith M. (Merchant) Charette of Gardner; two sons, Rene Charette II of Fitchburg and Christopher Charette and his wife Marie of Cary, NC; two daughters, Corrine Charette of Gardner and Susan Johnson of Turner Falls; eight grandchildren, Olivia, Mackenzie, Eli, Bryce, Elizabeth, and Hannah Charette, Stephanie and Joselin Johnson; three brothers, Lawrence Charette and his wife Ann of Florida, Robert Charette of Gardner, Gordon Charette and his wife Maria “Penny” of Templeton; a sister, Ginger Cregger of Ayer; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling Hours will be held Friday, September 16, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
