Rena A. (Richard) Cormier, 98, died Saturday, September 9th in the Meriden Center, Meriden, CT following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on July 15, 1908, she was the daughter of Alexis and Odile (Dupont) Richard.
She was an upholsterer employed by the former Custom & Modern Co. of Gardner for several years, retiring in 1970. She was previously employed by Hartshorn Mfg. Co. of Gardner.
She was a member of St. Laurent Church, Meriden, CT and also of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner, and its Ladies of St. Anne Society.
Mrs. Cormier enjoyed playing cards, reading and going to Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
Her husband of 50 years, Emery J. Cormier, died in 1980.
She leaves 6 daughters, Ella A. L'Homme and husband Emile of Holly Springs, NC, Helen P. Cormier, Leonette B. Bligh and husband William all of Meriden, CT, Louise E. Labossiere and husband Philippe of Gardner, Yvonne E. Hoyt of Clinton, CT, Cecile C. Case and husband Russell of South Paris, ME; 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Edmond and Prime Richard and 3 sisters, Olive Morrissey, Laudia Cormier and Christie Pierce.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, September 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
