Real C. Voisine, 83 of Gardner, lost his battle with cancer on March 15, 2022, for which he bravely fought for several recent years. He previously beat cancer in 1999.
Born in St. Basile, New Brunswick, Canada on April 17, 1938, he was the son Barthy and Almida (Martin) Voisine and was the eldest of 9 children. He came to Gardner in 1953 and became a naturalized citizen in 1955. Real served in the American National Guard from 1960 to 1966.
With over 65 years’ experience, Real was a master at reupholstering furniture, having worked for several companies where he picked up the trade. He later started his own furniture reupholstering business, which he ran out of his home for more than 35 years.
Real, along with his wife Katherine, enjoyed candle pin bowling at the “Bowlaway” in Gardner on Monday nights. They were both avid dancers, particularly polka dancing.
For 16 years, Real and Kathy also enjoyed spending their winters soaking up the sun at their condo in Hollywood, Florida.
Real leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Katherine A. Dymek, 3 children: sons Greg Voisine and his significant other Anne Murdock of Baldwinville, Kevin Voisine of Gardner, and daughter Kimberly Harris of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 5 sisters: Theresa and her husband Ronald Ouellette of Gardner, Dorina and her husband John (Dutchie) Manca of Gardner, Carmen and her husband Leo Pellerin of Gardner, Jeanine Voisine of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Marie and her husband Jim Lambert of Gardner, and 1 brother: Robert Voisine of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Real was predeceased by a brother Guy, and a sister Cecile. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Erik, Amber, Samantha, and Alex, 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Elijah, Oliver and Amelia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Bridge Street, Baldwinville, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, March 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home
