Raymond R. Vaillancourt

Raymond R. Vaillancourt, 76, of 303 Coleman Street, Gardner died unexpectedly Sunday August 26, 2012, in his residence.
Born in Gardner on May 7, 1936, he was the son Virginia N. (Cormier) Vaillancourt of Gardner and the late Jules J. Vaillancourt.
Raymond graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1954. During his high school years he played football for the Gardner High Wildcats. He later graduated in 1965 from Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music.
Raymond was a musician, and played with various musical groups for many years, retiring in 1998. He was an accomplished acoustic bass player, sang and wrote music. He loved all music; especially Jazz and Classical. He loved Frank Sinatra, and one of his prized possessions was the original signature of Judy Garland on one of his music sheets.
He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and woodcarving miniature figurines and houses. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan.
Raymond was a member of St. Denis Church in Ashburnham.
He was a United States Army Veteran, and served from 1955 thru 1957 as a Military Policeman.
Besides his mother, he leaves two brothers, Jules P. Vaillancourt of Ashburnham and Peter C. Vaillancourt of Gardner; two sisters, Maria V. Johnson of Maynard and Aline A. Vaillancourt of Gardner; four aunts, Muriel Basilio of Fitchburg, Fernand Darling of Simi Valley, CA, Florence Trifilo of Largo, FL and Yvonne Preliasco of Gardner; one uncle, Jeffrey Cormier of Washington; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 31st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 85 Main Street, Ashburnham. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 GlenAllen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Friday, August 31st at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
