Raymond E. Roy, 87, of 1272 Flintlock Drive, Daytona, Florida and formerly of Gardner, died Sunday, April 24th in Halifax Medical Center, Daytona Beach, FL, following an illness.
Born in Fitchburg on June 23, 1917, he was the son of Edward and Melina (Arsenault) Roy and the adopted son of Ovila and Emelienne Caisey.
He was a plater employed by Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner for 7 ½ years until retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Acadien Social Club and V.F.W. Ovila Post 905of Gardner.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Service Star.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Alma (Arsenault) Roy of Daytona, FL; 1 son, Raymond P. Roy of Townsend; 2 daughters, Evelyn A. Nacke of Melbourne FL, Anne Marie Royof Phillipston; 3 brothers Louis Roy of Fredricton, NB, Canada, Arthur Roy of Victoria, BC, Canada and Edward Roy of Casper, WY; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by 2 brothers Eric and Emery Roy and 1 sister Laura Gill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, April 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
