Raymond S. "Ray" Montville, 69, who resided at 197 S. Main Street, Gardner for the past 35 years, died peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2012 in his residence following a long illness.
Born in Gardner on March 15, 1943, he was the son of the late Sylvio and Eva Louise (Pouliot) Montville.
Prior to retiring in 1999, he was employed by Avery-Dennison Company of Fitchburg as a quality assurance inspector for 14 years. He was previously employed by H & R Manufacturing Company of Gardner for 15 years.
Raymond graduated from Note Dame High School in Fitchburg with the Class of 1961. He graduated from Fisher Business of Fitchburg in 1963.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Gardner.
Raymond enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family. He was involved in Cub Scouts for many years and was Cub Scout Master of Pack #2 from 1978 through 1989.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Mamie H. (Bezio) Montville of Gardner; three sons, James P. Montville of Gardner, Thomas M. Montville of Gardner and Daniel Montville and his fiancé Laurin G. Mullin of Grafton; one sister, Denise Strom of New Haven, CT; five grandchildren, Jessie T., Robert J., Nora S., Thomas D. and Alicia M. Montville; one niece, Cassandra Strom; one great niece, Alyssa Laverty; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Cecile Wheeler who died September 28, 2011.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 9th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Thursday, August 9th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
