Raymond H. Laplante, 80, of 125 Connors Street, Gardner, died peacefully, Sunday, August 10, 2014 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, following a brief illness.
Raymond was born in Gardner on March 31, 1934, the son of the late Maxine J. and Rosilda (Courtemanche) Laplante.
He was a United States Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Raymond was a woodworker employed by F.W. Lombard Company of Ashburnham for several years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner, West End Beagle Club of Gardner, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 747 of Gardner and the Gardner Fish and Gun Club.
Raymond enjoyed deep sea fishing, snowmobiling and attending concerts with his son. He lived a happy life, and loved spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Loraine M. (Duval) Laplante of Gardner; two sons, Larry J. Laplante of Winchendon and Carl J. Laplante and his significant other Debbie of Templeton; one daughter, Cynthia A. Boudreau of Gardner; two brothers, Robert R. Laplante of Ashburnham and Donald P. Laplante of Ashburnham; one grandson, Cory J. Butler of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Sandy Laplante.
Graveside Services in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon will be private.
