Raymond R. LaJoie, Jr., 71, of 107 Gardner Road, Hubbardston, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after being stricken ill.
Born in Gardner on October 9, 1943, he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Jennie (Laitinen) LaJoie, Sr.
Raymond graduated from Gardner High School of Gardner with the Class of 1961.
He was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal.
Raymond was a member of the Hubbardston Lions Club and the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
He was owner/operator of Second Shift Garage of Hubbardston for more than 30 years. He was a hard worker who devoted his life to working. His passion was building hot rods, and he was also a gun enthusiast. He was a remarkable man who was always willing to help others in any way he could.
Raymond leaves two brothers, David LaJoie and his wife Tena of Shrewsbury and John T. LaJoie and his wife Kelly of Ashburnham; three sisters, Sally LaJoie of Baldwinville, Margaret Pacheco and her husband Jesse of Albuquerque, NM and Sandra LaJoie and her husband Keith Hayes of S. Royalston; one aunt, Edna Ringuette; one uncle, Thomas LaJoie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be Monday, November 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
