Ralph E. Roy, 92, of 180 Royalston Road, Phillipston, died peacefully Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, following a long illness.
Ralph was born in Athol on October 24, 1921, the son of the late Edgar J. and Alfreda (Dubois) Roy.
He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1940.
Ralph was a United States WWII Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal and the American Theatre Ribbon.
He was employed by Nichols and Stone Company as a swing saw operator for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
Ralph was a member of Holy Cross Church of East Templeton. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working around the farm.
He leaves four brothers, Edward Roy and his wife Patty of Phillipston, Ronald Roy and his wife Dorene of Gardner, Robert Roy of Gardner and Donald Duval and his wife Brenda of Winchendon; two sisters, Leah Chartier of Gardner and Annette Grenier of Westminster; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Earl Roy; and sister, Jeannette Roy.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 22nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, East Templeton. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
