Rachel T. (LeBlanc) Wood, 76, of 18 Laurel Street, Gardner died Thursday, November 28, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester, surrounded by her family following a brief illness.
Born in Gardner on October 8, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Yvonne (LeBlanc) LeBlanc.
Rachel graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1955.
She was employed by Nichols and Stone Company of Gardner as a secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1999. She was previously employed by Collier Keyworth Company, George B. Bent Company, Simplex Time Recorder Company and Gardner Travel Agency, Inc., all of Gardner.
Rachel was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and Holy Spirit, both of Gardner. She was also a member of the Gardner Chapter of AARP and was an administrator of the Albert and Reuben Stone Fund.
Rachel enjoyed all types of crafting, golfing, going to Foxwoods and playing cards with friends. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Herbert C. Wood of Gardner; two sons, Steven C. Wood and his wife Kellie of Westminster and Gary P. Wood and his wife Angela of Sullivan, NH; one daughter, Denise R. Sullivan and her husband Brian of Grantham, NH; two brothers, Charles R. LeBlanc and his wife Barbara of Gardner and Donald A. LeBlanc and his wife Dianne of Gardner; seven grandchildren, James, Aileen and Patrick Sullivan and Alex, Sarah, Rebecca and Michael Wood; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves a dear friend, Enoch Holu, of Ghana, West Africa.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 3rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Monday, December 2nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner Community Action Council, 294 Pleasant St, Gardner, MA 01440.
