Rachel E. (Noel) Vezina, 93, of Leominster and formerly of 19 City Hall Ave., Gardner, died Thursday, September 1st in her residence following a short illness.
Born in Nashua, NH on November 29, 1911, she was the daughter of Arthur and Emelia (Fortin) Noel.
She was co-owner with her husband of the Vezina Insurance Agency of Gardner for many years until retiring in 1981.
She was a 1930 graduate of Nashua High School, N.H. and in 1969 received her Insurance Brokers' License.
Mrs. Vezina was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Society, Parish Council and was active in its yearly bazaar. She was a member of the Gardner Board of Registrars, Catholic Charities, Golden Agers, and was secretary of the Senior Bowling League. She volunteered at Heywood Hospital Gift Shop for 25 years, enjoyed playing cards, knitting, sewing and traveling. She was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Her husband of 28 years, Herve N. Vezina, died in 1968.
She leaves 1 son, Herve N. Vezina, Jr. and wife Mary of Evansville, IN; 1 daughter, Louise R. Comeau of Leominster with whom she lived; 1 brother Laurent Noel of Nashua, NH; 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Lucille Vezina of Ashburn, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Paul R. Vezina of Ashburn, VA who died in 2004 and 3 brothers, Bernard, Paul, Maurice Noel all of Nashua, NH and 1 sister Camille Davis also of Nashua, NH.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 1:00 P.M. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, September 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
