Rachel M. "Rach" (Fougere) Maillet, 73, of 31 Patriots Rd., Templeton, died peacefully Saturday, April 4th in her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Grand Digue, NB, Canada, on September 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Willie and Evangeline (Maillet) Fougere.
Rachel was a stitcher employed by Collier-Keyworth Co. of Gardner for 10 years, retiring in 2001. She previously worked in the Glazing Department of the Albert M. Locke Co. of Gardner for 12 years.
Mrs. Maillet was a member of Holy Cross Church, E. Templeton. She enjoyed bicycle riding, cross country skiing, taking walks, sewing, spending time with her family and being at the Maine seashore, especially Wells Beach. Rachel liked completing 'word search' puzzles and was a great fan of television game shows, particularly Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
She leaves her husband of 49 years, Victor A. Maillet of Templeton; 2 daughters, Glenna J. Hjelm and her husband Craig of Ashburnham, Vickie A. Lorkiewicz and her husband Mark of Leominster; 5 brothers, Alcid Fougere and his wife Janette of Fitchburg, Roger Fougere and his wife Patricia of Otter River, Neri Fougere and his wife Lorraine of Littleton, NH, Donald Fougere of Boston, Clarence Fougere and his wife Marie of Gardner; 4 sisters, Doris LeBlanc and her husband Emery of Leesburg, FL, Dorilla Richards and her husband Yvon of Hubbardston, Marie Manca and her husband Charles of Gardner, Rita Plamondon and her husband Norman of Spring Hill, FL; 8 grandchildren, Lindsay Ladroga, Bryce Tolman, Zachary, Brandon, Kara Lorkiewicz, Logan, Griffin and Hayden Hjelm; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Fougere and a sister, Irene LeBlanc.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Ave., E. Templeton. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, April 7th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
