Rachel M. (Morse) Kendall, 91, of Gardner, died at home Sunday, January 23, 2022, with her family by her side.
Rachel was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mildred (Roy) Morse. She was strong and fiercely independent, which was fitting as she was born on Independence Day. Rachel was always extremely proud to have received her GED through Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner. She was a Home Health Aide worker employed by the former GVNA Healthcare of Gardner for several years. She was previously employed by Catholic Charities.
Rachel was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, attending Mass at its Holy Spirit Chapel. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crafting and all things pertaining to life in Alaska. In her youth, with her parents and brothers, they made their home in various areas across the country, but her heart was always in Massachusetts. As a young widow, after the passing of her husband, she moved her family across the county returning to the 4 seasons of New England and a providing an incredibly wonderful life for her children. Eating hotdogs with the family at Dunn’s Park, blueberry picking in Maine or visiting Virginia were all looked forward to with equal anticipation. Rachel was a wonderful cook and was known for her birthday pies and baked beans. The call to helping others was practiced with love and fidelity throughout her life, through clothing and food donations, making meals, offering rides and the most personally gratifying was participating in a program at the First Baptist Church in Westminster. Though she had many passions, the greatest joy came when she was with her family and friends, no thrills needed.
Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Christine Gosselin (Val), Kathleen Cormier (Tim) and three sons, Wayne Kendall, Jr (Barbara), Michael Kendall and James Kendall (Denise); beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brother Norman Morse (Beatrice), and nephews.
She was predeceased by husband, Wayne Kendall, Sr. and her brother, Ralph Morse.
