Phyllis M. (Proulx) Ares, 74, of Winchendon, died peacefully Monday, December 13th in her residence following a long illness.
Born in Greenville, NH on September 30, 1936, she was the daughter of Amedee J. and Juliette G. (Gagnon) Proulx.
She was a 1954 graduate of Gardner High School.
Phyllis enjoyed playing the piano and organ, painting, reading, bingo and watching movies. She especially loved being with her family and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Joseph N. Ares of Winchendon; 2 sons, Ross A. Ares of Gardner, David M. Ares and his wife Susan of Eckerty, Indiana; 4 daughters, Karen M. Ufnal and her husband Michael of Milford, NH, Maureen T. Ruel and her husband Lenny of Winchendon; Julie L. Ares of Leominster, Kelley J. Cyganiewicz and her husband Scott of Gardner; one brother, Neil Proulx and his wife Susan of Ashburnham; one sister, Priscilla N. Proulx of Gardner; 14 grandchildren, Courtney and Stephan Ufnal, Emily Wolcott, Faith Reipold, Alan Freeman, Maddy and Steven Dery, Tausha and Brittney Joe Ares, Stephanie and Jeffery Neagle, Lindsey Spinelli, Amber and Sarah Savoy; one great-grandchild, Sydney Freeman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, December 17th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
