Phung Sakounmoung

Phung Sakounmoung, 75, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday March 22, 2018 in his home surrounded by family, following an illness.
Born in Houh Xai, Laos, on December 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Lehn Sakounmoung.
Phung graduated from high school in 1960, and served in the Army in Laos prior to coming to the United States. He also assisted many friends and family in escaping Communist Laos. Phung achieved a certificate in a skills training program in English as a second language.
Prior to retiring in 2005, he was employed for several years in the Quality Control Department of Star Container Corporation of Leominster.
Phung was a member of the Wat Lao Dhammaraam Buddhist Temple of Fitchburg.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and swimming. He enjoyed outings with his family, and especially loved helping people.
Phung leaves his wife of 53 years, Tina (Khaonla) Sakounmoung of Gardner; three sons, Bounmey Sakounmoung of Gardner, Khamsing Sakounmoung of Gardner and Thongdam "Tommy" Sakounmoung of Gardner; two daughters, Mercedes Perez and her husband Louis of Lakeland, TN and Asia Conley and her husband David of Ogunquit, Maine; one sister, Amy Adams and her husband Tony of Fitchburg; ten grandchildren, Nikki Somsy, Tyler Duangsay, Giovanni Perez, Alyssa Kakounmoung, Brandon Sakounmoung, Damien Fitzgerald, Dymond Conley, Amasian Conley, Heaven Conley and Honey Conley; one great-grandchild, Gianna Duangsay; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 29th at 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 29th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
