Philip A. Lefebvre, 76, of Baldwinville, died peacefully Monday, May 15, 2023, in UMASS Memorial HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster, after a period of declining health.
Born in Winchendon on September 17, 1946, he was the son of the late Albert and Kathryn (Frazier) Lefebvre. He graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1964 and from Fitchburg State College in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree. Phil was a courier employed by Heritage Insurance for many years prior to his retirement. He really enjoyed being a sportswriter and photographer for the Winchendon Courier for many years.
Phil was a parishioner of St. Martin’s Catholic Church of Otter River. He played softball for several local leagues for over 50 years. As a softball pitcher and third baseman, he played in a state championship tournament in the 1970s. After retiring from softball, he taught pitching to hundreds of girls up until a month before his passing. Many of “his” pitchers played in state championship games and he was always at their games to encourage them. Phil also enjoyed bowling in a Gardner league, playing golf, tennis and billiards. Phil enjoyed traveling and spending time at the ocean where he rode the waves no matter the water temperature. His greatest joy was his family, though, treasuring all the special moments they had together.
Phil is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janice (Lis) Lefebvre of Baldwinville; two brothers in-law, James and John Lis of Otter River; two nieces, Karli Lefebvre-Collins and her husband Erik of Tucson, AZ, and Kristin Lefebvre-Garcia and her husband Lloyd of Las Vegas, NV; as well as two grandnieces and two grandnephews, many cousins, and special friends, Robert Lis and William Marsh.
He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Lefebvre.
