Philip Arsenault, 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, September 15th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.
Philip was born in Gardner on May 7, 1929, the son of the late Michael and Suzanne (Boucher) Arsenault.
Prior to retiring in 1991, he was a lumber mill worker employed by Curtis Lumber Company of Hubbardston for 28 years.
Philip was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner.
Philip's hobbies included reading books by the author Louis Lamour, playing pool at the Senior Center, watching Western movies and bowling. He was a sports enthusiast, and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Philip enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Violet (Goguen) Arsenault of Gardner; two sons, Norman P. Arsenault and his wife Doris of Gardner and Donald O. Arsenault and his wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Darlene M. O'Connell and her husband John of Worcester; two brothers, Adelard Arsenault of Leominster and Lionel Arsenault of Athol; three sisters, Alma Roy of Daytona Beach, FL, Rosa LeBlanc of Templeton and Therese LeBlanc and her husband Joseph of Bouctouche, N.B. Canada; one sister-in-law, Helen Arsenault of Sun City, CA; three grandchildren, Michael Arsenault, Gisele St.Pierre and Nicole O'Connell; one great-grandchild, Polina Arsenault; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Gerald and Andrew Arsenault.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 18th with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
