Peter A. Osowski, 76, of Gardner, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 13, 2025, after a period of declining health with his family by his side.
Born in Fitchburg on April 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Catherine A. (Guilfoil) Osowski. He graduated from Leominster High School with the Class of 1967. Peter was a United States Air Force Vietnam Veteran serving from 1969 to 1973 receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Small Arm Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the Air Force Medal. He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator employed by PJ Keating Company until his retirement in 2001. He also was a call firefighter for the City of Gardner for many years before resigning in 1991 when the fire department was faced with layoffs.

He was a member of the Mohawk Amateur Radio Club, American Radio Relay League (ARRL), Teamsters L-170, Harley Owners Group, National Rifle Association, Northeast Shooters, and the Gardner Fish and Gun Club. Peter was also a trained Sky Warn Weather Spotter and member of the local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Peter loved being outdoors fishing, shooting, and riding his Harley-Davidson. He loved being a HAM radio operator with the call sign of K6IPO, and watching trains. Peter’s greatest pride was his family, especially his grandchildren, treasuring the time spent together.
Peter is survived by his son Craig A. Osowski and his wife Valerie Ingman of Hubbardston; his daughter, Krista Osowski of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Dylan and Liberty “Libby” Osowski along with his step grandchildren Courtney and Kevin Dotterweich; three brothers, Henry Osowski and his wife Cheryl of Simi Valley, CA, John Osowski of Nashua, NH, and Thomas Osowski and his wife Karan of Chagrin Falls, OH; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his “kid” brother, Mark Osowski of Leominster, a former NBA coach who passed in 2004. Pete adored his younger brother and followed his career with pride. Peter’s family is glad to know Peter and Mark are together again.
