Pauline C. (Mailloux) Tatro, 92, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, February 26, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Gardner on September 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alphee and Alice (Valois) Mailloux. She attended Holy Rosary School and graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1947. Pauline worked as a secretary at Heywood Wakefield Co., and she was a medical receptionist for Dr. Thomas Tracy at his primary care office and then later at his orthopedic office until her retirement in 1990.
Pauline married her love, Joseph Tatro, in 1948 and was blessed to have had an adoring partner in life. They succeeded in providing a loving home for their family. Pauline was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner where she was involved in its Mother’s Guild. She was a member of the Women’s Business Professional Club and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Pauline also had many other interests including reading, knitting, bingo, and working on crossword puzzles. She had a great memory for names and excelled at trivia and enjoyed Wii bowling. Above everything, family was her utmost priority and greatest enjoyment, and she treasured the special times they had together. She lived her life with a quiet grace that will be remembered by many.
Pauline is survived by one son, Deacon Richard J. Tatro and his wife Brenda of South Hadley; and three daughters, Barbara J. Moy of Millis, MA; Joann C. Dean and her husband Dennis of Derry, NH; and Lisa M. Szramiak and her husband Steven of Marlborough, MA. Pauline also leaves six grandchildren, Kimberly Perry of Plainville, CT; Michael Tatro of Manasquan, NJ; Matthew Tatro of South Hadley, MA; Nathan Dean of Derry, NH; Timothy Moy of Uxbridge, MA; and Jennifer Altadonna of Norristown PA; and five great-grandchildren, Logan Perry, Avery and Paige Tatro, Adler Dean, and Audrey Moy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70-years, Joseph H. Tatro, who died in 2019; her sister, Theresa Twing; and her brothers, Robert, Roland, and Roger Mailloux.
Pauline’s family is thankful for her care team, especially Nurse Practitioner Brandy Meunier and Nurse Courtney O’Rourke, of Summit Healthcare for their wonderful care and compassion. They are also thankful for the Heywood Commons Companions who provided compassionate care and all her many friends there who made her later years enjoyable.
