Pauline T. Kacian

Pauline T. (Gagne) Kacian, 84, of Gardner, and formerly of Westminster, died peacefully Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Applewood Home for Elders of Athol.
Pauline was born in Gardner on December 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Leo and Loretta (Rouleau) Gagne.
She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1950.
Pauline was a telephone operator employed by Verizon of Gardner for 43 years, retiring in 1991.
She was an active member of St. Edwards the Confessor Church of Westminster, and a long time former member of the Women's Guild. She also taught second grade C.C.D. for many years.
Pauline was a former Girl Scout Leader of Troup 542 of Westminster and was a member of the Girl Scout Association for over 37 years. She was also a member of the Polish American Social League.
Pauline enjoyed crocheting, knitting, going on long car rides and dining out. She was an avid gardener, who also loved dancing, listening to music; especially big band concerts. Pauline enjoyed playing Bingo with her Applewood friends, and she treasured spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Walter C. Kacian, who died in 2003.
Pauline leaves two daughters, Kimberly A. Shell and her husband Carl of Ashburnham, and Melissa L. Walter and her husband Lorin of Gardner; four grandchildren, C.I. Shell, Jason Shell, Tyler Walter and Mikayla Walter; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Diana Blaisdell and Alice Soderman.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster. Please report directly to the Church. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery of Westminster at a later date.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Pauline's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of GVNA Healthcare, Inc. and Applewood Home for Elders and the girls from the French Connection for the excellent care given to Pauline.
