Paul E. Tourigny, 85, of 36 Patriot Rd., East Templeton, died peacefully from a short illness Sunday, August 7th in Heywood Hospital with his family at his side.
Born in Gardner on February 5, 1920, he was the son of Lionel and Angelina (Cote) Tourigny.
He was former owner and operator of Chair City Oil Co., Inc. of Gardner where he worked from 1948 to the present.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church, East Templeton. He was also a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner and was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, Council #2536 of Otter River.
Mr. Tourigny enjoyed his family, boating, snowmobiling, computers, electronics, photography and also had his pilot's license.
He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
He leaves his wife of 55 years, Anna (Flourent) Tourigny of East Templeton; 2 sons, David J. Tourigny and wife Mary of East Templeton, Michael J. Tourigny and wife Suzanne of Ashburnham; 1 daughter, Paula M. Thurman of Westfield; 6 grandchildren, Raymond St.Hilaire, Nicholas and Benjamin Thurman, Julie (Tourigny) Haupt, Peter and Shawn Tourigny; 4 great-grandchildren, Bradley and Ana-Logan Tourigny, Ian Haupt and Ella St.Hilaire; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 5 brothers, Lionel Tourigny of Winchendon, Raymond Tourigny of Weymouth, Edmond Tourigny of Lawrence, Robert and Herve Tourigny, both of Gardner, and 2 sisters, Loretta Tourigny and Alice Perreault, both of Gardner.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, East Templeton. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, August 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
