Paul D. Geoffroy, 69, of Gardner, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 21, 2020, in his residence after a long battle with heart disease.
Born in Lowell on October 22, 1950, he was the son of the late Gerard and Alice (Chaput) Geoffroy. He was a graduate of Narragansett Regional High School with the Class of 1968 and received his Associate's Degree in Human Services from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1977. A United States Air Force Vietnam War Veteran, serving from 1969 to 1973, where he received the National Service Defense Medal. Paul was a Corrections Officer employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 22-years until his retirement in 2005 and was currently employed at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course.
Paul was a well-known and respected coach of Gardner youth and High School sports. He loved to frequent the Paramount Café of Gardner and talk with the patrons and owners. He loved to spend time on the golf course, but the time that Paul loved and cherished the most was the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his wife of 42-years, Karen (Wiita) Geoffroy of Gardner; two sons, Michael Geoffroy and his wife Jessica of Milford, and Ryan Geoffroy and his significant other Melanie Kelley of Worcester; a brother, Mark Geoffroy and his wife Marianne of Marlborough; two grandchildren, Cody and Cali Geoffroy; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Don Geoffroy.
Due to social distancing, a small private service will be held at Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., for immediate family.
A Celebration of his Life will be scheduled for a later date. Paul is being laid to rest at Green Bower Cemetery on Winter Street in South Gardner where you will be able to pay your respects.
The family would like to thank the nurses on the Cardiac Stepdown Unit at UMASS Memorial Medical Center (University Campus), the UMASS Memorial Health Alliance hospice nurses, and the Heywood Cardiology Department.
