Patricia L. Kalagher

Patricia L. (Speed) Kalagher, 72, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, May 2, 2024, in the Rose Monahan Hospice House, Worcester, after an illness.

Born in Fitchburg on July 11, 1951, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Helen (Hyde) Speed. She graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1969. She was a medical records coder employed by Medical Records Associates of Wellesley for several years before her retirement. She was previously employed by Burbank Hospital of Fitchburg.

Patricia loved to read and, since retirement, enjoyed traveling to various places with her husband, David. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, and she treasured all the time they spent together.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 52 years, David Kalagher of Gardner; two daughters, Emily Ruth Hopps and her spouse Michael of Wayland, and Hilary Kalagher and her husband Christopher Gibbs of Berkeley Heights, NJ; two grandchildren, Brandon and Evan Hopps, both of Wayland; a sister, Mary Maki-Boisclair of Worcester; two brothers, Gary Speed and his spouse Robie of Walpole, NH, and Robert Speed of Winchendon; several nieces, nephews and two cousins, Bruce Hyde of Bradford, VT and Rebecca Gardner of Conway, NH.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Meaghan Elizabeth Kalagher, who died in 1979, and her sister Nancy Casavoy, who died in 2012.

A celebration for life will be held at a later date.
