Pastor Alexander "Sasha" "Papa U" Ufema II, 61, of 33 Mt. Jefferson Road, Hubbardston, died Tuesday, April 15th in his residence surrounded by his family, following a long illness.
Born in Lewistown, PA on February 7, 1947, he was the son of Alexander and Carolyn (Wychoff) Ufema.
Prior to retiring due to illness, Alexander was the Pastor of the First Baptist Church, 117 Main Street, Westminster for 23 years.
Pastor Ufema was a 1965 graduate of Chief Logan High School, Lewistown, PA. He received a Bachelors Degree in Biology from Pennsylvania State University in 1971, and a Masters Degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Management from Michigan State University in 1972. In 1979 he received a Masters of Divinity Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Pastor Ufema was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran.
Pastor Ufema truly loved his work. He enjoyed fishing, reading and especially loved time spent with his family.
He leaves his "high school sweetheart", whom he married on March 25, 1967, Toni R. (Wolfgang) Ufema of Hubbardston; three sons, Alexander Ufema III and his wife Rebecca of Phillipston, Aaron H. Ufema of Lynchburg, VA and Paul D. Ufema and his wife Heika of Lynchburg, VA; one daughter, Maggy N. Ufema of Gardner; one brother, Lance W. Ufema of Lewistown, PA; five grandchildren, Mikaelah G. and Nathan A. Ufema of Phillipston, Robyn J. Ufema of Gardner, Zion V. and Isaiah P. Ufema of Lynchburg, VA; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19th at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, 117 Main Street, Westminster. Burial will be at a later date in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, will be Friday, April 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
